I am LOVING this new book out now called “Pure Country: The Leon Kagarise Archives, 1961-1971″.
Kagarise captures “dozens of classic country and bluegrass artists in their prime, including Johnny Cash and June Carter, George Jones, Dolly Parton, Bill Monroe, Hank Snow, The Stanley Brothers, and many other greats.”
Another cool thing about this book is all the pictures are from small backwoods stages in rural, outdoor music parks…. they aren’t pictures from huge venues..
I love the idea of the book.. but let’s talk about the cover…
Doesn’t that guy on the cover look like Jim Carrey from “Me, Myself, and Irene”??? yep… I thought so too.
